Key to Successful Implant Treatment:
Diagnosis and Planning
Diagnosis and treatment planning for placement of dental implants is the key to successful treatment. At our office each step of the process is carefully planned and coordinated to ensure successful treatment. Models of your mouth are taken and a wax-up is done to recreate the tooth or teeth that are going to be replaced. This wax-up is used as a template or blue print to plan for the implant surgery. A CT scan is taken in our in house imaging center of each area where the implants are to be placed. The specific type of implants is selected and the appropriate location of implant placement is determined.
After the diagnosis and treatment planning part of your treatment is finished placement and surgical options are given.
Understanding the Procedure
Dental implant placement is broken down into two phases. Phase one is the actual placement of the titanium implants into the position of the missing teeth. After placement a patient must wait a period of time for the bone to osseointegrate or grow around the implant and integrate into the mouth. After the integration is completed phase II is performed and the implant is able to have the new crown fabricated.
The Benefits
Dental implants have several benefits:
Dental implants allow the dentist to recreate a tooth where one has been lost.
They replace a lost tooth without destroying the adjacent teeth. This would be necessary if a bridge were done.
By placing implants the bone is retained in the area of the lost tooth that would normally be lost.
Implant crowns can look and feel like your natural teeth.
Implants can be predictable and reliable when treatment planning and diagnosis is done correctly
Implants are easier to maintain than natural teeth.
